This policy explains how FreeNexGenTools.co.uk ("we", "us", "our") collects, uses, and protects information when you use CheckMyCV and our other free tools. We are committed to your privacy and comply with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).
1. Who We Are

2. What Data We Collect
CV Scanning (CheckMyCV)
When you scan your CV, your file and job description are transmitted to our server solely to produce your ATS report. We do not write your CV to disk, store it in a database, or retain any copy after your results are returned. The entire file is processed in memory and discarded immediately.
We log only anonymous metadata per scan:
- Overall ATS score (number only)
- File type (PDF or DOCX)
- Processing time (milliseconds)
- Date of scan (no time, no IP address)
This data cannot be linked back to you or your CV.
Rate Limiting
To protect the service from abuse, we temporarily record a hashed device identifier (derived from your IP address and an anonymous browser fingerprint) to enforce daily scan limits. This hash is not an IP address — it cannot be reversed — and is automatically deleted after 24 hours.
Analytics (with your consent)
If you click Accept All on our cookie banner, we set an analytics cookie to understand how visitors use the site (pages visited, time on page, country). This data is aggregated and anonymous. No names, email addresses, or CV content are ever linked to analytics data. You can withdraw consent at any time — see Section 5.
3. Cookies
We use two categories of cookies:

We do not use advertising cookies, social-media tracking pixels, or fingerprinting cookies.
4. Legal Basis for Processing
- CV scanning data — Legitimate interests (providing the service you requested). Processed transiently; never stored.
- Rate-limiting hashes — Legitimate interests (preventing service abuse). Deleted after 24 hours.
- Analytics cookies — Your consent (PECR). Only set after you click "Accept All".
5. Your Rights & Cookie Choices
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you (we hold very little — see above).
- Request erasure of any data we hold about you.
- Withdraw consent for analytics cookies at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).
To withdraw analytics consent or clear your cookie preference, open your browser's
developer tools, go to Application → Local Storage, and delete the
fnt_cookie_consent key — the banner will reappear on your next visit.

6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. We use Google Cloud (EU region) to host the backend. Anonymous scan metadata (scores, file type, processing time) may be stored on Google Cloud infrastructure. Your CV content is never sent to any third party other than Google's Vertex AI API to generate your ATS report — it is not retained by Google under our API agreement.
7. Data Retention
- CV file & job description — deleted immediately after your scan (never persisted).
- Rate-limiting device hash — auto-deleted after 24 hours.
- Anonymous scan metadata — retained up to 12 months, then deleted.
- Cookie preference — stored in your browser for up to 1 year; you control it.
8. Security
All data is transmitted over HTTPS (TLS 1.2+). CV files are never written to disk. Our backend enforces strict rate limits and request signing to prevent unauthorised access.
9. Children
This service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has used the service and you wish to raise a concern, please contact us.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect any changes. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
